My name is Brian Schoeneman, legislative director for the Seafarers International Union. I am here today on behalf of sea-going maritime labor, including the Seafarers, the American Maritime Officers, the Marine Engineers’ Beneficial Association, and the International Organization of Masters, Mates and Pilots. Between our organizations and our affiliates, we represent all the mariners employed on all the vessels operated by the various Jones Act shipping lines that currently service Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
