U.S. Transportation Secretary visits Port of Beaumont for ship-naming ceremony

U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao said today she understands the need to dredge the Port of Beaumont and other ports during a visit to the port. She took part in a naming ceremony for the Liberty Passion, the third ship owned by Liberty Global Logistics to join the Maritime Security Program, which makes its commercial vessels available to the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Maritime Administration to ship military equipment abroad. The ship is capable of carrying 6,500 cars on its 12 decks, but it can carry the Army’s equipment from armored vehicles to its largest battle tanks to areas of conflict.  READ MORE.
